The Méphisto II.X has improved on their
incredible Obsession II CD player. Audiomeca captures the
true essence of the Méphisto II.X when they wrote:
The Audiomeca Méphisto II.X CD player features Anagram
Technologies software based sample rate converter, ATF192MKII®
and many other closely related and innovative techniques.
A powerful 32 bit floating point DSP runs proprietary signal enhancement
algorithms. The incoming digital data is recalculated into
a high precision 24 bit 192kHz signal before being converted to
the analog domain.
The system's key point is the clocking. Contrary to traditional
converters, the lock is not derived from the usual input PLL anymore.
Instead, every second, hundreds of millions of mathematical operations
recalculate the digital data on the basis of a very high precision
output clock located as close as possible to the D/A converter chip.
As a result, input and output clocks are totally independent for
the very first time. Thanks to the technology, one can make
sure that jitter cannot pass through the output resulting in virtually
zero jitter. Whatever the incoming data characteristics, the
Méphisto II.X CD player not only converts the sampling rate
to 192 kHz but increases resolution to 24 bit. Transient integrity,
dynamic precision, soundstage and details all greatly benefit from
high resolution. The 65635 different steps of the old respected
16 bit standard increase to nearly 17 million steps, providing exceptional
sound accuracy. This is the same DAC and audio stages as the
stand alone Audiomeca Enkianthus reference grade DAC.
The very high sampling rate reduces dramatically the complexity
of the analog reconstruction filter, resulting in excellent phase
linearity and outstanding musical quality with no sonic signature.
