Harmonia Audio carries the whole line of
Daniel’s Audio cables. They use skilled craftsmen to
manufacture the cables; only the tape wrapping is automated to ensure
that electrical characteristics do not vary from cable to cable.
The cables are balanced, silver plated oxygen free copper (OFC)
Litz conductors, with fluoropolymer dielectrics in a twisted pair
configuration.
True Litz construction ensures very consistent inductance and
resistance from D.C. to well beyond audio frequencies, and makes
for a cable with extremely flat frequency and phase response. Since
the aberrations in the frequency and time domain are minimized due
to the elimination of skin effects, pulse response is improved when
compared to conventional construction. This results in the
music having a more natural harmonic balance and improved sound-staging.
The bass is thus deeper, faster, and articulated. The mids
are detailed and airy. The treble is extended and smooth. The soundstage
is open with good image specificity. All of the above is attained
without a loose, boomy mid bass, or a shrill, ringing high end.
The twisted pair configuration minimizes magnetic leakage and
pickup. This allows for the use of unshielded cable in most
applications. (In unbalanced applications, shielding results in
a slight high-frequency roll-off because of the increased capacitance
given by the shield.)
The Alpha speaker cable is a 15 AWG cable offering virtually identical
performance to the Epsilon cable on speakers with reasonably high
impedance. This cable offers superior bass extension, dynamic contrast
and soundstaging, with an extended and smooth top end. The
cables are terminated with 1/4" high conductivity copper spade
lug or 5/64" x 5/8" OFC pins. (A nonmagnetic gold
plating is used on either option.) It comes with a black braided
polyester jacket.
